Anya Gudimova (b. 1995) received her BFA in Painting from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2018. Born in a small town near the Black Sea she immigrated to Alaska at age 8, experiences that continue to inform the emotinal and natural alndscapes within her work. Gudimova explores quiet, suspended moments where intimacy and solitude meet, using femininity and vulnerability to reveal both tenderness and unease withint he human experience. her work explores the tension between beauty and darkness through dreamlike paintings where figures exist between exposure and protection, while natural environments feel emotional rather than literal. Through restraint and ambiguity, the paintings invite viewers to linger in moments that feel both tender and unsettling. Gudimova currently lives and works out of Seattle.
